At approximately 6:46 pm this evening the Bakersfield Police Department was called to the scene of this two vehicle rollover accident at the intersection of Cottonwood Road and E White Lane in South Bakersfield. A Ford F-150 driven by 29 year old Maria Delacruz Ramirez was northbound on Cottonwood when it was broadsided by the Chrysler Sebring driven by 69 year old Juan Moreno who was eastbound on White Lane.
Bakersfield Police not only determined that Mr. Moreno ran the stop sign for eastbound White Lane traffic, but was also driving while under the influence. Mr. Moreno sustained minor injuries and was taken to Kern Medical Center to be evaluated. After his release from Kern he will be arrested on suspicion of felony DUI.
Ms. Ramirez was found to be driving without a valid driver’s license. The police also noted that the juvenile male passenger in her vehicle was not in a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Both Ms. Ramirez and her passenger were also taken to Kern Medical Center for minor injures. Two citations were issued to Ms. Ramirez, one for driving without a valid license and the other for driving with an unrestrained minor passenger.
The Bakersfield Police Department asks that anyone who witnessed the accident call 327-7111 and speak to the Traffic Detail.
